If you read 'Archie Comics' as a kid...

... and have a slightly warped sense of humor, you're probably going to find many things that will make you laugh at Archie Out of Context. God knows I did!

Something cute for iPods to wear

Now, I'm of course much too manly to buy and use this or any of the other iPod/iPhone cozies or cases that Lyssa offers for sale through Zonderling Designs. But darnit if they aren't cuuuuuute! (Click here to see more of them.)

John Nolte has another insightful commentary on the state of the film and television industries.

Sandra Bullock: Part of a dying breed?
A lot of what I see on Andrew Breitbart's websites annoys me, but I almost always find myself in agreement with John Nolte, the media critic who edits Big Hollywood for Breitbart. And he's got another good piece on what's wrong with big movies and big stars these days, partly written in refutation of a Daily Mirror piece. Click the link to read it.

Big Hollywood -- Death of the Movie Star: Yes, It’s For Real: "The talent is out there. The movie industry just refuses to put it to work."

The Fruit Guys

I don't watch much television when I'm at home, but there isn't much else to do sometimes when you're traveling.

And maybe it's because I'm away from home at the moment, but the Fruit of the Loom television commercials with the singing fruits are seeming funnier to me than ever before. And it got even funnier when I went to this website. (It's perhaps the goofiest way to sell underwear ever devised.)

What's more troubling than the fact I found myself laughing like a madman over guys dressed up in fruit costumes singing about underwear, is that I found the music videos and the songs more entertaining than most REAL pop songs I've also been watching recently on television.

John Nolte has fun with Oliver Stone's films

As part of the film critic slamathon that has followed the release of Oliver Stone's latest cinematic turd, "South of the Border", John Nolte has written one of the funniest career surveys of any director I've ever read.

Big Hollywood: ‘South of the Border’ Confirms Oliver Stone Is a Right-Wing Plant

Of course, it might not be funny unless you despise most of Stone's body of work like I do. He should have stuck to writing scripts for cheesy fantasy films and even cheesier horror movies.

Draw Mohammed Day Links

That is a real picture, from what the organizers described as a "successfully peaceful demonstration" against Everybody Draw Mohammed Day in Pakistan (Lahore, I think) on May 17. Even when being peaceful, it seems there are some Muslims who just can't help themselves when it comes to the death threats.

And while Facebook (being a corporate entity) is probably not willing to die in defense of freedom of expression, I like to think that I am. But I also hope I'll never be called upon to fully sjow the courage of my convictions!

Here are some links to art galleries and articles focused on Everybody Draw Mohammed Day. (If you know of one I should list here, email it to me at stevemillermail@gmail.com. I will also happily post a cartoon you've drawn, if you don't feel like posting it yourself.)

Hitler's End (according to Russ Heath and Atlas Comics)

History records that on April 30, 1945, Adolf Hilter chose to take the coward's way out and committed suicide as the Russian forces invaded Berlin. Many of his psychotic followers did the same, even going so far as murdering their entire families in the process.

However, if you click on this link to Pappy's Golden Age Comics Blogzine you can see a story that one wishes might be true. Especially if you're a German whose parents or grandparents were one-time proud Nazis.
